Bosnia Adventure

This is an alter scarf that was hand made by the lady with me. I got this for my church as a gift from me for supporting my adventure to Bosnia This group of women are the Phoenix Group. They were some of the first women to start to support themselves after the war. In the background is Kathleen with our group
Here I am giving out the scarfs that the ladies in FCC gave to me. Before I left, each lady in my church brought a scarf to the meeting. A scarf placed around your neck and shoulder is comforting as Christ's love wraps around us. Crossing the scarf on your chest is a reminder of the cross which Christ died for you. I took this message to Bosnia as I gave the ladies I meet the scarf from our church. The love came from each lady in our church to each lady in Bosnia

October 2007 I travel to Bosnia with a World Wide Women's group. This is just a small part of the adventure I would like to share with you. This is the Mostar Bridge. This bridge was originally constructed in the 13Th century. It was completely destroyed during the war 12 years ago. No one owns up to bombing this bridge. The Japanese government took the lead and started to reconstruct the bridge. Each of the stones were retrieved from river and the bridge was completely rebuilt. The Mostar Bridge is an awesome sight to behold.

The day that we visited the bridge, it was so cold and the wind was blowing so hard. I had on my coat with the hood, scarf and gloves. I was so cold. Taking in the site, I was walking across the bridge alone. This was one of the "tourist" part of this trip. As I stood at the middle of the bridge, I could see that it had snowed in the surrounding mountains. The wind was whipping around my head as I grabbed my arms trying to warm myself. The other ladies were shopping. I was thinking, this was not on my agenda, to shop, this was a church supported mission, but it was a beautiful area.

Williamston Prom 2008

Well, I am back blogging after some coaching and technical advice. This is my latest endeavor, decorating for the Williamston High Prom. The theme was Casino. So I made a roullette wheel, large dice, large cards and the suits. There were 45 tables with black table clothes with color toppers. It was fun. I will soon be off the coast next week to work on the addition. Let me know what you think, leave me a comment
Here I am with one of the dice that I painted. I did a much larger dice, the a smaller dice and the smallest. I stacked them one on top of each other, the largest to the smallest and shown a light on them. It was "over the top". Really I am so creative. I have so much fun doing this.

Now, when you look at everything so closely, you can see all the mistakes. When the lights are off and candles are lite, the whole place takes on its own personality.

This is the entrance into the prom. I painted the queen and king. The balloons really added a lot. The colors are black, green, yellow, red and blue.
Well, here is some of the crew that helped me put the finial touches on the prom. I got all dressed up and I will post those pictures later.

This is a salon in the Hotel Santa Lucia in Cuenca, Ecuador. This hotel is so very beautiful and exquisite. There is a restaurant and the prices are so very reasonable. The details for service and personal attention, is to die for. Ecuador is such a bargain for food and hotels.

Well, you know when you eat too much and just a few drinks, people act crazy. And here is the picture to prove it. Nancy and Chuck in the foreground are my friends that invited me to Ecuador. We went to this sushi restaurant, as you can see "fun was had by all." Vicki, my traveling buddy is to my left.

We are leaving Cuenca at the end of the week to go back to Lima, Peru. With the political situation, prayers of safety are welcomed.

If you enjoy this blog, let me know.

Look forward to your reply and the next blog.

South American Trip

This was my first day in Cusco, Peru and the Sacred Valley Tour. I got this handmade wall hanging for my friend Diane. Oh, look, the lady in the background and her hat. I bought a hat like that, can you imagine that.

Here I am again, looking for that special hat, not here, maybe the next place. I really think this hat had seen better days

Finally, I found the hat. This is the lady that made it. This was at the base of Ollendaytumbo, the first day of my adventure to Machu Pichu.

On the way through Sacred Valley I saw this child in her native dress. How sweet she was, but she would not sell me her hat. Oh, I did not try to buy it, really. Children all over the world, I have found are all the same, angels of God

This is now somewhat out of order. Oh, the adventerous person that I am, after getting to Machu Pichu, I decided to climb Wayno Pichu, the mountain that one usually see in most pictures of Machu Pichu. This really took a long time, very narrow and straight up and down. See how steep it is in the background. Do I look nervous?

I made it, I climb Wayno Pichu. I am holding on for dear life or can you tell. Look!!!! Machu Pichu is in the background. At this time the clouds were taking us and it started to rain. Now to get down

Well, here I am at Machu Pichu with Wayno Pichu in the background. Really, I did climb it, as you can see the clouds are overtaking it.
Climbing to the top of Machu Pichu, was a real thrill, so much to see and visit. Machu Pichu is really very large. Wayno Pichu is in the background covered in the cloulds. I made it.Well, here I am coming down Machu Pichu. I was so tired, hot and almost exhausted, but I did it.When you get to the bottom of Machu Pichu, you have to eat the meal of the national meat, a guinea pig. Here I am doing just that, actually, it was very sweet meat and not too much of it. When in Rome, when in Machu Pichu, do as they do.Well, after 5 days in Peru hiking and climbing, I arrived in Cuenca, Ecuador to visit friends. Chuck and Nancy took me to the local flower market. The calla lilies were $.20 each, great lunch later for $1.75 and off to relax at there condo.

Thats all for today
